CRT 222 mini projects
Throughout my sophomore semester, I have been exposed to new tools and technologies. I have been able to showcase these new skills in various projects. Through diverse projects, I seized the opportunity to apply and showcase these newfound capabilities. In this small presentation, I present four miniature projects that serve as tangible demonstrations of my endeavors."
The Vacuum formed wrench
As seen above this is a life-size model of a wrench that has been modeled using poly-wall. The tool was placed upon a stool then as the poly-wall was heated to the desired temperature it was then lowered to cover the wrench. After the material had cooled down all that was left was to cut out the model.
Hand Made Hooks
As seen from above these are two distinct hooks that were made in a forge. It was my first time to be able to blacksmith. Through intensive effort, I was able to learn the fundamentals such as heating the metal and the various techniques to shape it. Furthermore, these two hooks showcase some of these skills: tapering, cutting, bending, and finally twisting.
The Acrylic phone holder
This project was the process of taking a cut square piece of acrylic and heating it. The tool used was a heat gun which heated the material until it was maluable. I shaped it to be able to hold a phone-like device on the edge of a stand.
The Patriotic Rocket
This rocket is made from a political sign and utilizes zip ties as rivets to hold it together. This project helped me utilize many different tools such as a ban saw, drill press, and cable tie gun.
